Landmark Inspections was founded in January of 2004 by Walt Balester with the belief that he could make a difference in the Home Inspection Industry.  Walt  believes in giving his clients a non-biased opinion, good or bad, of the home they are in the process of purchasing, with no gimmicks, no unethical practices, no kick backs, with competitive rates, and above all else, excellent customer service.  Landmark Inspections is a proud member of  the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) , the preeminent national organization of the inspection industry.

Customer Service includes such practices as almost always answering the phone, available 7 days a week, being on time, and being there for the client 1, 2, 5,  years later when there is a need.  This is why each client receives a lifetime of FREE phone consultation for the time they are living in the home I inspect. Landmark Inspections schedules the inspections so the client receives the time necessary to have a good understanding of the condition of the property.  First time buyers receive extra time or as much time as necessary to understand the importance of maintenance and the condition of their new home. 

Landmark Inspections believes in a non-biased opinion and ethical practices.  We abide by the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. Landmark Inspections does not have any relationships with vendors or contractors that do repairs or can benefit from defects found in an inspection report.  The confidentiality of the report is of great importance to Landmark Inspections.

Walt Balester  - Home and Building Inspector:

Walt Balester , Owner and Operator.  Walt has over 30 years experience in various aspects of construction, renovation and rehab work, with 20 years experience performing different types of inspections.  Walt is fully certified by the State of Ohio as a Commercial and Residential Building Inspector, and as an Electrical Safety Inspector.  

Walt prefers to use his experience and knowledge to assist people in making an informed decision about what is probably the largest purchase they will ever make, their home.

In 2004, Walt left a position as Building Commissioner of the City of Maple Heights, where he had worked for 12 years for the same Mayor, 6 years as Chief Building Inspector, then 6 years as Building Commissioner(Department Head), where he hired and trained housing and building inspectors.  Walt is still fully qualified to run a City Building Department. 

As of the Fall of 2007, Walt has taken a part time position with Mayfield Village as Building Inspector. This means that Walt cannot perform an inspection for you if the house you want is in Mayfield Village. But Mayfield Hts. is OK.
